The secret of having the correct blade pressure
Easy to cut hair requires a relatively low blade pressure and results in lower wear of the cutting blades.
The cutting performance can be improved once the blades have experienced minor wear by slightly increasing the blade pressure (always turn only 1/4 rotation) using the regulating screw.
The regulating screw must only be tightened so far that the upper cutting plate can still be moved from the side with the application of only an average amount of pressure. Each clipper head has this standard setting when it leaves our plant.
Easy cleaning, thanks to the fact that the cutter head can be dismantled
The flat spring and upper cutting plate can be easily detached by removing the regulating screw.
Attaching the cutter head
Secure and reliable connection between clipper and cutter head.
The cutter head can be changed while the clipper is in use, simply snap in place and continue working.
Cutting test - is my cutter head still sharp?
A cutting test should be carried out after presetting the regulating screw.
The test is easily performed using a 1-2 mm thick strand of wool. To do this, insert the strand of wool into the teeth on all three sides (left, right and in the middle). If the lower part of the strand of wool falls off, the cut is ideal. If some of the fibres on the woolen strand remain hanging, improve the cutting ability by slightly tightening the regulating screw (only turn 1/4 rotation at a time) to increase the plate pressure.
The regulating screw must only be tightened so far that the upper cutting plate can still be moved from the side with the application of only an average amount of pressure. Every clipper head has this standard setting when it leaves our plant.
If the strand is not crushed down or remains stuck between the two cutting plates in spite of a maximum pressure adjustment with the regulating screw, then a satisfactory cut will not be possible with the clipper head. Professional sharpening at Aesculap Suhl or by one of our authorised dealers will then be required.
Tips for daily use
The cutting plates must be oiled prior to every cutting use while the cutter head is mounted.
If used regularly, take the clipper heads apart every few days and clean with a soft cloth or brush. Pay particular attention to ensuring that the spaces between the teeth are cleaned.
Lightly oil the heads after cleaning.
The sliding surfaces must be absolutely clean prior to re-assembly. We recommend using the clean palm of your hand to wipe them off. The clipper head can only cut properly if there is no hair between the cutter plates.
The regulating screw must only be tightened so far that the upper cutting plate can still be moved from the side with the application of only an average amount of pressure.
Clipper heads can be changed while machine is running. To do this, press on the lever on the side of the clipper.
Please ensure that the clipper head has been completely pushed onto the dovetail notch.
To extend the edge holding ability, please remove any visible dirt in the hair. When shearing animals, we recommend the animal be thoroughly brushed out and any matted areas be loosened. This is mandatory for cutting lengths of 9 mm or more.
The clippers can be re-sharpened several times. Please contact Aesculap Suhl or one of our authorised dealers should you wish your clippers to be sharpened.
