My clipping head plucks - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The clipping head is blunt and needs to be reground. Use a new or resharpened clipping head. If it works properly, the original clipping head is blunt.

My clipping heads/clippers are rusting - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The clipping heads/clippers have not been oiled enough and/or have been stored incorrectly. Oil the clippers or clipper heads that are not currently needed before storing them. Storage in the original blister works best and make sure that the Branarost chip is included. This chip helps to prevent corrosion. Store your clipping heads/clippers in a dry place as humidity will cause the material to corrode. Otherwise store oiled and wrapped in packing paper.

The clipping head gets hot - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The clipping head has not been oiled and/or has "run dry". You should oil the clipping head before and during work. If necessary, let it idle for a few seconds so that the oil can distribute well in the clipping head and does not contaminate the coat.
Tip for professionals: Buy a second clipping head to change. If necessary, use Aesculap Blade Cool Spray GTA103. It cools, cleans and oils the clipping head. The Cool Spray does not replace oiling! Always use only clipper oil for oiling (no salad oil or similar). During clipping, the clipper heads should be oiled every 5-10 minutes!

My clipping head does not cut - what could be the cause?

A possible cause: The clipping head is dirty, the upper and lower plates are stuck together. Hair is between the clipper plates. Clean the clipping head with a brush or with compressed air. Push the upper clipper to the left and right so far that the spring still holds the upper blade. Clean and oil the clipper surfaces. Do not unscrew the clipping head!
If the clipping head is unscrewed and not refitted correctly, the retaining spring may bend. If you are not sure, send the clipping head to the grinding service. Remove section - only the service should do this!
Another possible cause: There is hair between the clipper plates. Clean the clipping head, re-oil it and check the function of the clipping head.

My clipping head does not fit perfectly, vibrates and is noisy - what could be the cause?

One possible cause: The knife holder is loose.
SnapOn System: Tighten the fastening screws. If the clamp is bent outwards, the head will wobble on the knife holder. Adjust with pliers. Check the blade hinge to see if the clamp still engages in the shaving head. Then send it to the grinding service.
Another possible cause: The clipping head is not properly engaged on the swing lever.
Switch off the machine, fold down the clipping head. Switch the machine on again and fold the clipping head on while the machine is running.

Favorita clipping heads

My clipping head does not cut - what could be the cause?

Possible cause 1: The clipping head is not adjusted correctly. If necessary, readjust the plate pressure. To do this, tighten the knurled screw so much that the upper cutting plate can be pushed back and forth with medium pressure between thumb and forefinger. Or adjust with the Torqui GT142.

Possible cause 2: There is hair and/or dirt between the clippers. Disassemble the clipping head and clean all parts.

Possible cause 3: The clipping head wobbles back and forth and vibrates strongly after switching on. Check if the dovetail (blade holder) is loose. Tighten the fastening screws. Check whether the dovetail is worn. If so, a service is due.
Possible cause 4: The clipping head is not properly engaged on the swing lever. Switch off the machine and remove the clipping head. Push the clipping head halfway onto the dovetail, switch on the machine and, with the machine running, push the clipping head completely on, pressing the lever.

My clipping head gets hot - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The Favorita clipping head plate pressure is too high. If necessary, readjust the platen pressure. You should readjust the platen pressure/set the correct platen pressure. It is normal for the clipping head to heat up more the higher the speed of the machine. Therefore, oiling before, during and after work is extremely important.

Vega/Akkurata and Isis/Exacta clipping heads

My clipping head does not cut - what could be the cause?

Possible causes: The clipping head is dirty, the upper and lower plates are stuck together, there is dirt between the blade plates.
Carefully move the upper plate back and forth with your fingers. Use Blade Cool Spray with tube attachment and spray between the upper and lower blades to loosen the dirt and adhesions. Never unscrew these clipping heads!

Large animal clippers

My clipper does not cut - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: There is hair/dirt between the clippers.
It may be that hair has already got between the clippers during the first shearing attempt - then the clippers will not cut. Therefore: Remove the clippers from the clipper head and clean them. This means removing hairs and reinserting them.

The clippers do not fit on the clipper head (cattle/horse) - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The oscillating pad is not correctly positioned in the clipping head.
Before inserting the upper cutting plate, make sure that the swinging block is in the recess provided and in the correct position. If necessary, straighten the swinging block and mount the clippers. Insert the upper cutting plate so that the two tips of the oscillator engage exactly in the holes of the upper cutting plate. Then push the lower cutting plate up to the stop on the clipping head housing and tighten both clamping screws. Then adjust the plate pressure.

The machine does not shear - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The plate pressure is not set correctly.
This is how to set the plate pressure correctly:
The adjustment of the plate pressure without auxiliary tools should be done with the machine running: Loosen the knurled screws and the regulating screw until the upper cutting plate no longer presses on the lower cutting plate. A bright running sound can be heard. Now turn in the regulating screw until a slight resistance can be felt. From here on, turn it one more turn. The running sound changes audibly.

First adjust the plate pressure with the adjusting screw (if necessary with the help of the Torquis GT146). Then fix the plate pressure with the knurled screw.

Machines in general

The machine gets hot - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The clipping head has not been oiled and/or has "run dry".
The clipper has to work too hard to move the "not oiled" clipper head, this can cause it to heat up a lot. You should oil the clipping head/clipper before and during work. If necessary, let it idle for a few seconds so that the oil can distribute well in the clipping head/between the clipper blades and does not end up in the coat.

Cable clippers

The machine does not work - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: Cable break
Cable breaks occur when the material is subjected to heavy strain. For storage, never wrap the cable around the clipper in small loops, but wrap it in large loops and hang it loosely. Never pull the mains plug out of the socket by the cable, always by the plug. Never lift the machine by the cable.

The performance of the machines is declining - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The carbon brushes are worn out. The inside of the appliance is dirty.
The brushes may be worn out. Have the machine serviced so that the carbon brushes can be replaced. Dirt can cause poor contact of the live parts. Service is recommended.

Battery clippers

The clipper does not start or stops again and again - what could be the cause?

One possible cause: The battery is not fully charged.
You should always fully charge the battery before using it for the first time. This can take up to 4 hours - depending on the battery. The batteries are only charged to approx. 10% for transport. Full charging is necessary to ensure smooth operation.
Another possible cause: The battery is discharged even though the machine has not been used for a long period of time.
Batteries also discharge when the machine is not in use. If the machine is not used for a long period (1/2 year), remove the batteries from the machine and store them separately. Charge before storing.

Isis or Exacta clippers

The machine no longer runs - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The clipping head is dirty/the upper and lower plates are stuck together. (mostly with the trimmer clipping heads).
The machine has a protection, i.e. the machine does not switch on if the clippers do not move, so that the motor is not damaged. Please remove the clipping head and check if the machine runs without the clipping head. If this is the case, the problem is with the clipping head, not the clipper. You should clean or replace the clipping head.

The indicator light flashes - what could be the cause?

A possible cause: The charging process is not carried out correctly or the battery or charging station is defective.

Target state:
FAV5 CL/Favorita CL: Charge level indicator lights up red during charging and green when the battery is charged.
Durati: During charging, the charging station flashes green; when charging is complete, a continuous green light is visible.
Bonum: The charging LED flashes during the charging process. When it is permanently lit, the battery is fully charged. The button flashes - this is an overload protection. you should switch off the machine, remove the blocking reason and switch the machine on again.
Econom CL: Indicator flashes during the charging process. Continuous illumination means that the battery is charged.
If there are any deviations, have them checked by the service department. If necessary, replace the battery or charging station.

Another possible cause: The battery machine has not been stored correctly. E.g. below 0°C or above 40°C.
Always store battery machines including batteries and spare batteries only within the temperature intervals specified in the instructions for use. Temperatures below and above this will affect the service life and operation of the batteries.

The battery does not charge - what could be the cause?

Possible cause: The charging contacts on the machine or on the charging station are dirty or wet.
Clean and dry the charging contacts - both on the machine and in the charging station. Start the charging process again.
